The Surgery Department of Firelands Regional Medical Center provides individualized surgical care to patients who are in need of skilled clinical intervention.

The goal of the Surgery Department and Surgery Center at Firelands Regional Medical Center is to provide the most efficient collaborating team possible to achieve optimum results for patients as they undergo anesthesia, surgical intervention, and recovery. The goal is to return the patient to his former level of functioning in the family and community or become stable for transport to a post‑operative nursing unit. The plan of care is designed to assist the patient's progress toward optimum levels of activity for age, physical and psychological limits, and surgical intervention process.

The unit offers a comprehensive treatment program to pediatric, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population.

The Surgery Department schedules procedures in the following specialties: GYN, Orthopedics, Neuro, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, EENT, Cardiovascular (including open heart), Plastic, Podiatry and Thoracic.

Many of our patients take advantage of Pre-Surgery Testing, a service that allows patients to complete their preliminary lab work, x-rays and other diagnostic testing on an outpatient basis. Pre-surgical testing eliminates the need for you to be admitted to the hospital for tests prior to your surgery or procedure.
