Meet Our Executive Leadership Team

Jeremy Normington-Slay

President and Chief Executive Officer

Jeremy Normington-Slay, DPT, MBA, FACHE joined Firelands Regional Medical Center as CEO in 2018. Normington-Slay has over 20 years of healthcare leadership experience in the Midwest. He previously served in executive roles with large national health systems as well as independent hospitals. In addition, Normington-Slay is very involved in the communities, having served on the board of directors for numerous non-profit, philanthropic, and educational organizations. He was initially trained as a physical therapist and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin. He also completed a Master of Business Administration from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire, and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Normington-Slay’s greatest joy is his family. He was married in 2002 to his wife Abigail, and together they have five children (Jonathan, Noah, Micah, Titus and Boaz). The Normington-Slay family resides in Perkins Township and continually advocates for the City of Sandusky, Erie County, and all that makes our region a wonderful place to live, work and play.

Scott Campbell, MD, FACEP

Scott Campbell, MD, FACEP

Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer

Scott Campbell, MD, FACEP, is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine physician who started his career at Firelands in 1992. In his role as CMO, Dr. Campbell serves as a liaison between the health system and medical staff while advising and leading the care teams in providing high-quality care. Dr. Campbell received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo, and completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. Dr. Campbell has been involved in medical staff leadership throughout his career, formerly serving as the Medical Director of the Dept. of Emergency Services, as well as Chief of Staff and member of the Executive Board. He is currently the President of the Firelands Physician Group.


Kevin Riley

Chief Financial Officer

Kevin Riley, CPA, MBA, FHFMA started as chief financial officer of Firelands Health in fall 2022. Kevin joined Firelands with over 30 years of healthcare finance experience. He previously served in management positions for national accounting and consulting firms KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers; as vice president of finance for Mercy Health in Cincinnati, Ohio; CFO for St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio; and most recently as principal for Health Management Associates, a national healthcare consulting firm based in Lansing, Michigan. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Xavier University and a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph University. In addition, Kevin is a certified public accountant, a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and holds several other certifications from HFMA.

Denise Parrish

Denise Parrish

Vice President Clinical Operations and Chief Nursing Officer

Denise Parrish, RN, BSN, MSN, NE-BC is currently the vice president of patient care services, and chief nursing officer at Firelands Regional Medical Center. Parrish has 25 years of extensive experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. She is currently responsible for the direction and operation of nursing functions and related patient care activities in the following areas: acute and inpatient rehabilitation, emergency services, inpatient behavioral healthcare, medical/surgical units, outpatient (oncology), cancer center, progressive care, critical care, nursing supervisors, center for women and newborns, pediatrics, dialysis, inpatient and outpatient surgery areas, infusion center, digestive health, wound care, cath lab, and sterile processing. Parrish received her Bachelor of Science: Nursing in 1998, a Master of Science: Nursing in 2009, and a Master of Business Administration in 2019 from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh.


Dru Meredith

Vice president of Operations/Marketing and Strategic Planning

Dru Meredith joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 2003 as the public relations coordinator. He was promoted to director of physician recruitment in 2005, area director of physician recruitment and south campus operations in 2009, assistant vice president of operations in 2011, and vice president of operations/marketing and strategic planning in 2015. Meredith currently oversees physician recruitment, south campus operations, inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy, nutritional and environmental services, plant operations, security, marketing and strategic planning, community outreach, development/fundraising, and home health. Meredith holds a bachelor of science degree in education and allied professions and a master's degree in organizational development, both from Bowling Green State University, and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Jim Spicer

Jim Spicer

Vice President of Operations and Chief Administrative Officer

Jim Spicer, PharmD, RPh, MBA, FACHE, joined Firelands Health in 2004 as a clinical pharmacist. He has a passion for navigating the complex healthcare environment and engaging diverse teams to lead patient-centered transformative growth while enhancing the effectiveness and quality of healthcare. Throughout his tenure, he has served in several progressive leadership roles and currently serves as vice president of operations and chief administrative officer. Spicer received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University, holds a master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He serves on several community, regional and State boards and actively promotes health and wellness throughout the Firelands Health service area.


Jody Meisler-McKillips

Vice President of Human Resources

Jody Meisler-McKillips, MBA, SHRM-SCP, CHHR, joined Firelands Regional Medical Center in 2008 as the coordinator of leave management. She was promoted to assistant director of human resources in 2012, director of human resources in 2014, senior director of human resources operations in 2020, and vice president of human resources in 2022. McKillips currently oversees the human resources, corporate health and school of nursing operations. McKillips holds a bachelor of business administration degree in human resources and law from the University of Toledo and a master's degree in healthcare management, from the University of Findlay, and serves as a board member of the Ohio Hospital Association Human Resources Association.

Justin Harris, Esq.

Justin D. Harris, Esq.

Vice President and General Counsel

Justin D. Harris, Esq., has served as an attorney more than 20 years, 16 of which were with Reminger Co. LPA. He carries a wealth of experience in healthcare. Harris originally trained and practiced as a respiratory therapist at the beginning of his career before attending law school. He has spent the majority of legal career advocating for physicians, nurses and hospitals, and he has also served as the Law Director for the City of Sandusky. Additionally, he served as National Coordinating Counsel for Cedar Fair, L.P.; was a Firelands Regional Medical Center board member; is a board member of the Erie County Public Defender Board and the Wightman-Wieber Foundation; and also serves as an adjunct professor for Bowling Green State University in the legal studies department. Justin serves on the board of directors for the Greater Sandusky Partnership and the BGSU-Firelands Respiratory Care advisory board. He was recognized as a Rising Star by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine 2011-2015 and again in 2017.
