Firelands Ranked Among Ohio's Top Independent Hospitals by Newsweek
(Sandusky, Ohio) Firelands Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce it made the Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals 2021 list. Firelands was among 22 other Ohio hospitals and is one of only three single-hospital independent health systems in Ohio to make the prestigious list.
World’s Best Hospitals 2021 recognizes 2,000 of the best medical institutions across 25 countries. According to Newsweek, the list was created to help patients find the best care in their area, as well as serve as a benchmark for other hospital networks to measure their performances. “We are honored to be included on Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2021 list,” said Jeremy Normington-Slay, President and CEO of Firelands Regional Health System. “This accolade recognizes the commitment and dedication of Firelands’ Board of Directors, physicians, and employees, as well as the health system’s state-of-the-art technology. Newsweek, in partnership with Statista Inc., a global data research firm, based its rankings on three data sources:
- Hospital recommendations from peers: over 74,000 medical experts were invited to participate in an online survey, including doctors, hospital managers, and health care professionals
- Patient experience: analysis of data obtained by patient satisfaction surveys, including recommendation of hospital, satisfaction with medical care, and general satisfaction with hospital
- Medical KPIs on hospitals: key performance indicators were collected, such as mortality, hospital readmission rates, timeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging
