Applications Open for Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing
(Sandusky, Ohio) Do you have a passion for helping others and a desire to make a difference? Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Program options include the Regular RN or the LPN to RN diploma.
“Our hospital-based nursing program provides a unique educational experience that prepares graduates for today’s nursing workforce,” said Director of Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing Dawn Wikel. Unlike traditional programs, our curriculum builds clinical experience into the coursework. Firelands’ students receive individualized attention and hands-on experience, interacting with healthcare teams across various departments at the medical center.
Students will also earn college credit through a partnership with Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Firelands College. Graduates can join the workforce in as little as two to three years, compared to a four-year degree, and can seamlessly transition to a bachelor-prepared nurse after one year of RN to BSN coursework with our partners at BGSU.
Firelands Health offers financial support, networking, and job opportunities to currently enrolled students and graduates of this program. Wikel explained, “Many of our graduates stay in the area to continue working at the medical center and support the local community.”
