Loans
Parents
- Direct Parent Loan (PLUS) Application: Direct Parent PLUS loans enable parents with good credit histories to borrow funds for dependent students enrolled at least half-time. Parents can borrow up to the student's cost of education less any financial aid received. The financial aid office can provide you with the cost information you need to determine how much to borrow for the year. Click on the "Direct PLUS Loan" link above to begin the application process and electronically sign a promissory note.
Students
- Direct Loan Application: If you do not have an active Direct Master Promissory Note (MPN), you will be required to complete an online MPN before we can disburse any funds from this program. The financial coordinator will notify you if you need to complete the online promissory note and will include instructions. Your online financial aid package will indicate the amount you are eligible to borrow from this program each year.
- Direct Loan Entrance Counseling: If this is the first time you have applied for a Direct Loan, you will be required to complete online loan entrance counseling before you can receive your first disbursement. During the session, you will review your student loan rights and responsibilities. The financial coordinator will notify you if you need to complete this counseling and will give you printed instructions.
- Direct Loan Exit Counseling: All Direct Loan recipients must complete online exit counseling prior to graduation, upon withdrawal, or if their enrollment drops to less than half-time (less than 6 semester hours). The loan officer will notify you when you need to complete this counseling and give you written instructions on how to begin the process. If you received other student loans during your enrollment at Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing, you will also be required to schedule a meeting with the loan officer to complete additional loan exit requirements and discuss any questions you may have about the loans, and sign your repayment schedules.
- Private Loan Application: Once all your financial aid options have been exhausted and you find you still need additional funds, you may wish to consider applying for a private student loan. Please take note that interest rates on these loans are variable and are based on your credit rating. Additional fees may also be charged. A co-signer may help to keep the rates lower. You can research and select a lender on your own, or you can click on the "Private Loan Application" link above to review a list of lenders our students have used in the past.
