Health isn’t just physical. Mental health is crucial for overall well-being. Whether it’s depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol abuse, or some other issue, Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Counseling & Recovery Services provides a full spectrum of outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment. Our behavioral health program is one of the largest hospital-based programs of its kind in the state. Our 34-bed inpatient psychiatric unit and counseling and recovery services provide care to residents of Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot counties.

Alcohol and drug treatment
When substance use interferes with your relationships, work, health, or finances, Firelands Regional Medical Center Counseling & Recovery Services can help. We'll work with you to develop the skills, knowledge, and resources to help manage daily living without drug/alcohol use. Addiction treatment services are evidence-based, incorporating the Seven Challenges Model, Matrix Model, Living in Balance Model, cognitive behavioral therapy, and tailoring services according to each client’s needs.

Mental health hotline program
- Firelands’ Hope Line is available 8 a.m. to midnight every day at 567-867-HOPE (4673).
- Firelands Counseling & Recovery Services was characterized as a “longstanding provider of outstanding behavioral health and employment services to adults, children and adolescents in rural Ohio” in our most recent accreditation visit in 2022 by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities.

Inpatient care
- Firelands provides a 34-bed inpatient psychiatric unit, admitting over 1400 area residents annually; many of these patients also have - secondary diagnoses that include addiction.
- Firelands treats people with addictions in ALL of its programs and departments, including the emergency room, inpatient, outpatient, psychiatric unit and the Center for Women and Newborns.

Vocational rehabilitation
Vocational rehabilitation services are available to adults and transitional youth with mental health and/or an alcohol or drug addiction diagnosis and in need of assistance in finding employment. Work readiness and soft employment skills needed to be successful in today’s job market are taught as part of the program.
