Admissions

This program admits students once a year to the RN Program and the LPN to RN Program.

Deadline: March 1

Admission requirements

  • Graduation from high school or satisfactory performance on the General Education Development Test.
  • High school or college completion of one credit in mathematics and two credits in science* (algebra, biology and chemistry preferred).

*LPN to RN applicants are only required to complete one credit in mathematics and one credit in science.

How to apply

  1. Apply online or download a printable application to mail in.
  2. Pay a $25 non-refundable application fee. You have three options to complete payment:
    • Pay online at www.firelands.com. Select “Pay my bill” then Firelands Regional Medical Center. Be sure to put FRMCSN App Fee in place of account number.
    • Call the cashier at (419) 557-5425 and inform them payment is for the School of Nursing.
    • Cash, check or money order may be dropped off or mailed to the school.
  3. Submit an officiate high school transcript, including, if applicable, a GED test score.
  4. Submit all official transcripts from all other colleges and universities attended.
  5. Submit character references
    1. Regular RN Program AND Transfer Students: Professional Reference Form provided by the school will need to be submitted from three individuals who know the applicant (teachers, clergy, employers or counselors.) A relative or friend may not give a reference.
    2. LPN to RN Program Students: Professional Reference Form filled out by one director/supervisor from your current place of employment.

All documents can be submitted one of three ways:

  1. Emailed to the Registrar/Bursar at Ashley.Dickman@firelands.com
  2. Mailed to Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing, 1912 Hayes Ave. Sandusky, OH 44870
  3. Drop off documents to the school at address above.

Once your application is complete, the School of Nursing will contact the applicant to schedule:

  • The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) unless the applicant has an earned baccalaureate degree from a nationally accredited institution
  • Personal interview with the director and registrar/bursar
